Thomas Gaisl graduated from the University of Zurich in 2015 and holds advanced degrees, including a Master from Harvard University and a PhD from Warwick University. Since 2020, he works at the Pulmonology Department at the University Hospital Zurich, where he also obtained his habilitation (Privatdozent). His clinical expertise spans interventional pulmonology and sleep medicine, with certification as an expert somnologist (ESRS). His research focuses on inteventional pulmonology-areas such as cone-beam CT technology, robotic bronchoscopy, cryobiopsy, and minimally invasive pulmonary interventions.
Thomas Gaisl has made contributions to pulmonary research, authoring over 65 peer-reviewed publications, 29 of which he served as the first or senior author. His research group has secured substantial third-party funding, supporting projects in areas such as cone-beam CT technology. He is also committed to academic mentorship, having supervised multiple doctoral and master’s students, and has delivered more than 100 lectures and invited talks at scientific forums.
He is highly active in professional organizations, including the European Respiratory Society and the European/World Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology. He serves on several scientific advisory boards and collaborates with industry partners in research consultancies.
