Dr. Sarabon Tahura is Associate Professor of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine at the largest Pediatric academic Institute of Bangladesh “Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute” and consultant (part time) at Square Hospitals Ltd. Dhaka, Bangladesh. She is the 1st Pediatric Interventional Pulmonologist in Bangladesh, performs all basic & advanced bronchoscopic procedures in children and neonate. Her field of special interest is pediatric airway foreign body and its retrieval by flexible bronchoscope. She performed the first flexible bronchoscopy guided endobronchial tumor debulking in children, as well as balloon bronchoplasty, cryotherapy and APC by flexible bronchoscope in Bangladesh.
Dr. Sarabon Tahura obtained MBBS from Mymensingh Medical College under Dhaka University and her professional degree FCPS (Pediatrics) from Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeon. Afterwards, she completed fellowship in Pediatric Bronchoscopy from Shangdong University, China. She has been awarded fellowship ‘FCCP’ by American College of Chest Physicians. She has attained advanced training and hands on workshops on Pediatric Bronchoscopy and earned significant experience and expertise from different countries.
Dr. Sarabon Tahura is actively involved in the development of different pediatric and pediatric pulmonology curriculum, guidelines, courses, training program & bronchoscopy workshops as faculty and resource person in Bangladesh. She is the faculty member of post-graduate examinations of Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology in Bangladesh. She wrote book on ‘Pediatric Bronchoscopy’ for students and residents of pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology. A good number of articles have been published under her name in different national and international medical journals. She was awarded in different international seminars.
Dr. Sarabon Tahura is frequently invited as international faculty to give keynote presentations at international meetings, conferences and bronchoscopy workshops in different countries. Dr. Sarabon Tahura actively works for raising health awareness, especially on child health and foreign body aspiration in children. She has been awarded the ‘Bangladesh Women Empowerment Award-2022’ for outstanding contributions in health and social works.
