Professor Jouke Annema was trained as chest physician and obtained his PhD in Leiden University and is professor of Pulmonary Endoscopy at Amsterdam University since 2013.
His research aims to contribute to achieve minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic solutions for the 1) minimally invasive diagnosis, staging and treatment of lung cancer 2) assessment of sarcoidosis/ ILD.
Recently he is also exploring the integration of novel optical techniques such as CLE and OCT in his research efforts. Dr. Annema initiated and conducted numerous clinical trials, published extensively including guideline changing reports on EBUS and EUS in lung cancer staging and sarcoid.
He has been head of Interventional Pulmonology of ERS and of Assembly Clinical Techniques. Dr Annema organized > 100 courses, was one of the founders of the ERS EBUS training and certification programme and has given lectures at numerous events.
