Prof. Dr. Kaid Darwiche, born in Bochum, Germany is a board-certified Pulmonologist at the Ruhrlandklinik – University Medicine Essen. He specialized in Internal Medicine in 2004 and in Respiratory Medicine in 2006 and since 2009 he works at the Ruhrlandklinik in Essen, first as a senior consultant and Co-Founder of the Department of Interventional Pneumology, a reference and training center for Interventional Pulmonology and since 2015 as head of the department. His main clinical and research interests are interventional bronchoscopic procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic tumors, malignant and benign Central Airway Obstruction and Bronchoscopic Lung Volume Reduction. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and lectures internationally on adult and pediatric airway disease. He was appointed as Associate Professor in Pulmonology in 2015, elected as Vice-President of the West-German Lung Cancer Center in the same year. In 2018 he was elected as Head of the Endoscopy Section of the German Pneumology Society and was nominated as associate Professor in 2020.
