Sammy is a consultant physician specialized in respiratory medicine. Currently he is serving as the head of the endoscopy department of St. Elisabeth Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany. He was born in Kisumu, Kenya and studied medicine at Victor Babes University of Pharmacy and Medicine in Timisoara, Romania. Sammy underwent extensive training in interventional Pulmonology with a broad treatment spectrum from ELVR in COPD to endobronchial recanalization in malignant lung diseases and specialises in bronchoscopic and pleural techniques, both diagnostic and therapeutic.
He has a great passion for EBUS and advanced EBUS-diagnostic techniques with key research and publications on EBUS-based diagnostic including mediastinal cryobiopsy, with special interest in the feasibility and safety of transesophageal mediastinal cryobiopsy. Expansive charity work with pioneer group I.P.E. (interventional pulmonology experience), with extensive volunteer training in Africa, including implementation of the first EBUS Intervention in east and central Africa.
