Prof Saghaie is an Interventional Pulmonologist and Respiratory Physician from Australia with interest and experience in rigid bronchoscopy and management of large airways, diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, management of pleural disease, and multidisciplinary care of lung cancer.
After graduating from Tehran University, Iran, in 2003, he had the opportunity to train as an internal physician and then a respiratory physician in Sydney, Australia. He has pursued his passion for interventional pulmonology by travelling and training in centres of excellence such as Johns Hopkins Hospital in the US, Thoraxklinik in Germany and Ospedale Morgani in Forli, Italy. Dr Saghaie has pioneered multiple new bronchoscopic techniques in Australia, including lymph node cryobiopsy, CBCT bronchoscopy and robotic bronchoscopy.
As well as co-supervising the IP fellowship program and the first Masters of IP degree in Australia, A/Prof Saghaie continues his active involvement in multiple research projects in Interventional Pulmonology and Pleural diseases, including numerous First-In-Human trials.
