Arschang Valipour, MD, Professor, FERS is a Specialist in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Intensive Care Medicine. He is the Head of Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine and the Director of the Karl-Landsteiner-Institute for Lung Research and Pulmonary Oncology at Klinik Floridsdorf, Vienna Healthcare Group, Vienna Austria.
His career started at the Medical University in Vienna in 1990 and received his MD in 1996. He became a specialist in General Medicine (2001), Pulmonary Medicine (2006), and Intensive Care Medicine (2009). Dr. Valipour previously conducted a research fellowship at the Department of Thoracic Medicine at the University College London Hospitals, London, UK, with Prof. Steven Spiro (1999-2000). He further obtained a university degree in Healthcare Management at the WU Wien. Dr. Valipour is a Fellow of the European Respiratory Society (FERS), a member of the European Respiratory Society College of Experts, and has served as a Secretary to the Sleep and Breathing working group of the ERS. He has been the Head of the CME program of the Austrian Society of Pneumology (ASP) and served on the EBAP board of reviewers for several years. He is on the healthcare board of the Vienna City Council and works on several working groups in the Ministry of Health.
His main research interests are COPD, interventional pulmonology, cardiopulmonary interaction, COVID-19, and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Valipour has served as Principal Investigator on a number of clinical trials in the field of pulmonology and is currently serving as local investigator on about 20 clinical trials. He has published several articles in high-ranked journals such as Lancet Respir Med, the Am J Respir Crit Care Med, Thorax, Eur Respir J, Chest, Respir Med, Respiration, and Int J COPD. Dr. Valipour is Associate Editor of the “Int J of COPD” and “Respiration”.
